The new runway proposed as part of the Sunshine Coast Airport (SCA) Expansion Project introduces new approach and departure flight paths as shown in the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
These include a "Primary Corridor" originating/terminating approximately over Cooroy, a "Secondary Corridor" crossing over Sunshine Beach and several "Higher Level Outer Routes" including one roughly over Tewantin.
These are clearly shown in the extract from the SCA Expansion Project "EIS Summary of Findings" document (page 38, image reproduced above).
The impacts of changing the flight paths resulting in jets flying over dwellings affecting many suburbs including Noosa, Tewantin, Verrierdale, Doonan, Eumundi, Cooroy Mountain, Weyba Downs, Yandina, Marcus and Castaways Beaches, Marcoola Beach, Pacific Paradise and Mudjimba to name a few.
We have put together a summary of our concerns for this expansion proposal along with the supporting facts, data and background history of the airport. This document, titled "A Field Of Dreams", is available for download below:
